catastr
A DEVONthink-like everything bucket for Linux and Android —
vibecoded, shaped around one person’s workflow, and in daily use.
catastr keeps a register of my files — notes, documents, mail — and adds search, tags and relations on top. The files themselves stay untouched: Org stays Org, PDF stays PDF.
It started on 6 October 2026. After about ten days of work it is good enough to be my daily driver. The Android app was started on 21 October and is already useful.
This site is for colleagues who are curious about the software and about how it was built. Whether catastr will ever be published is open — doing that properly would mean a lot of maintenance work.
What it does
Indexing, full-text and semantic search, tags, relations, mail via notmuch, sync between devices.
How I use it
CLI first, Emacs for daily work, web and Android for quick access.
How it's built
Vibecoding with Claude Code — but with a plan, ADRs, tests and audits.
Architecture
One Rust daemon in two roles: client on every device, server at home.
Status
What works, what’s next, what is still rough.
Screenshots
